Who we are
Crickets is a GitHub monitoring tool for engineering managers and tech leads. It connects to your GitHub repositories and surfaces unanswered issues, unassigned bugs, and stale pull requests in a single urgency-sorted inbox.
For questions about this policy, contact us at hi@crickets.dev.
What we collect and why
Account information
Your GitHub username, display name, and email address, provided when you sign in via GitHub OAuth. Used to create and identify your account. We may use your email address to send important product updates. This is not marketing, only significant changes to the service.
GitHub App installation
When you install the Crickets GitHub App on your organization, GitHub issues an installation ID that we store. This ID is used to generate short-lived access tokens (valid 1 hour) on demand. These tokens are never stored; they are created fresh per request and discarded immediately.
The App has read-only access to issues, pull requests, organization membership, and repository contents, limited to manifest files (package.json, composer.json) used to detect your tech stack. Source code files are never read or stored.
Repository data
Issue titles, body excerpts, pull request titles, comment metadata, and contributor information from the repositories you choose to monitor. Fetched via the GitHub API and stored to power your dashboard.
Usage data
Standard server logs (request timestamps, error traces) retained briefly for debugging.
Audience measurement
We use Vercel Analytics, a privacy-respecting audience measurement tool. It operates server-side from access logs, with no injected script, no cookies, and no personal identifiers. Data is anonymised and used solely for internal statistical purposes (page views, device types, etc.). In line with CNIL recommendations, this type of solution may be exempt from consent requirements as it does not infringe on users' privacy.
What we do not do
- We do not read source code. We access a small number of config files (package.json, composer.json) for tech stack detection only.
- We do not sell your data.
- We do not share your data with advertisers.
- We do not store your data beyond what is necessary to run the service.
How we store your data
Your data is stored in a PostgreSQL database managed by Supabase, hosted on AWS in the EU (Frankfurt). The application is hosted on Vercel.
No GitHub access tokens are stored in our database. GitHub App installation tokens are generated server-side on demand and never persisted. Database operations that touch sensitive data use a service-role key that is never exposed to the browser.
Data retention
Your account data and repository data are retained for as long as your account is active. If you remove a repository from Crickets, its cached data is deleted immediately. To delete your account and all associated data, email hi@crickets.dev and we will process the request within 30 days.
Your rights
Under GDPR and applicable privacy law, you have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data at any time. To exercise these rights, email hi@crickets.dev.
You can revoke Crickets' sign-in access from your GitHub OAuth applications settings, and uninstall the GitHub App from your organization via your GitHub App installations settings. Both actions take effect immediately.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes, we will update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
